This blog should be called "The Adventures of a Fabric Junkie!". I am passionate about fabric, threads, colours and textures. I can record my crazy quilting, sane quilting, embroidery and everything else that I consider important in my life.

Centre of my crazy quilted Ningaloo Reef picture.

This is the very centre of my underwater coral reef picture showing the embroidered coral surrounded by lighter sea green fabrics at the top and darker sea green fabrics at the bottom. I am trying to keep the stitchery embellishing the same colour as the fabric pieces so that the coral in the middle is the focus of attention. Lots of suitable doo-dads such as a turtle, anchor trapped in 3D seaweed, a tropical fish, seahorses and a shell. When it is finished I will frame it in a square wooden frame which is also covered in matching crazy quilted fabrics and stitchery so that it looks like the view from a glass bottomed boat.

Hi there,
I just had to leave a comment about your reef block... Before I even read the blurb about your block I had the feeling when I looked at it that I was 'looking down' the block's construction gave me a sense of depth... Looks fabulous...

Thanks Sharlee. I will photograph the whole thing, including the crazy quilted matching wooden frame when it is finished. I'm glad you got the feeling of looking down through glass. My 5 yr old grand-daughter has put first claim in for this picture followed by her 28 yr old mother but I think I will keep it for myself - they can fight over it after I'm dead and gone!

What an amazing work. At first sight I thought you'd been using the Babylock "Embellisher" machine for the coral reef - the texture is so rich! And the charms complement it so well. It really feels like looking down at the bottom of the sea.
