This afternoon I finished my Hearts and Hands for Sendai block. I'm happy with it (I think) although DH suggested I should put something in the corner with the crane. As far as I am concerned, the Crane is so big and so glitzy that it doesn't need anything else in that corner. I will now post this block off so that it can be included in the fund-raising quilts for Sendai. What shall I do next? I guess I should finish off the "Found Objects" cream on cream quilt block while I wait for the next block in the Tone on Tone Round Robin to turn up......plus every time I get one of those blocks on which to work my 1/5 of the embroidery, I also do 1/5 of the hot pink/red block for Debbie's tote bag.

Wow!!! This is one beautiful block. The koi is just one of your achievements, I love the way that the leafy plant climbs up the seam on the right, and those cherry blossoms are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteOhhh this is so lovely, I have to go back and use the magnifier option and check it out more so. Beautiful block my dear!
ReplyDeleteMe again!
ReplyDeleteI went back and enjoyed looking at the various patches again and really like the fan and the on upper right green seam treatment that reminds me of palm trees!!!
As for the upper left corner I at first thought of the suns rays from the corner maybe - not in metallic but just floss or silk threads - then thought what about the cherry blossom branch from the left? Just ideas my dear.
This is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteViv, how about embroidering some streaky clouds in that upper block, it would make it look like the sky behind the crane?! You could do it in your metallic thread, or in sort of a medium grey.

I really love your block, you have a wonderful way with threads.
ReplyDeleteYou have really captured the feeling of Japan. Divine
ReplyDeleteThis block is really stunning. It is a beautiful addition to the Sendai quilt.
ReplyDeleteViv, me again. I just saw the option Gerry ( Older rose) gave on her blog and I agree with her! It looks só much better when you make a bit of the bamboo in the crane's corner. Have a look at her blog:
